Akaa-Volley was better in serves

Akaa-Volley won VaLePa by 3 -1 (25-19,31-29,23-25,32-20) in Saturday evening. VaLePa has been dominating the Finnish Volleyball League in the last seasons. That is why this win tastes exceptionally sweet.

Akaa-Volley had two middle blockers out of its roster because of flu and VaLepa's Jakob Ekman was missing from the match as well. Thus, the both teams had a bit different crew than expected.

As predicted, the opposites Matěj Šmídl (Akaa-Volley) and Urpo Sivula (VaLePa) made up the 'fighting pair' of the match. They managed quite equally: Šmídl made 32/+18 and Sivula 28/+18. Actually, the whole match was extremely even. Reception 54%/58%, attack 53%/53%, blocks 11/11, etc. The reason for Akaa-Volley's win can be found in serves. Akaa-Volley served eight aces (Tyynismaa 3, Hernandez 2, Räsänen 2 and Šmídl 1) against VaLePa's three (all by Sivula).

Akaa-Volley is on the top of the league at the moment, but we have played 12 matches while Hurrikaani-Loimaa (2nd) has played 10 and VaLePa (3rd) only 9: https://www.mestaruusliiga.fi/miehet/sarjataulukot.html

Akaa-Volley's next match will be in Turku against TUTO-Volley already on Monday.

Akaa-Volley's three men block, Šmídl (left), Pöllänen (subsitute from Lempo-Volley) and Mikko Räsänen is forming a wall against VaLePa's Urpo Sivula. Libero Louis Pineau is backing up.
